Exclusive slot games: why operators want a game no rival can list

An exclusive slot game is a new game built around one casino’s players and offered only in that casino’s lobby. Nick Formosa, Head of Client Strategy at Just Slots, told G3 Newswire why operators are asking for them, and what our first one, Book of Maniac 500 with 500 Casino, has taught us.

What is an exclusive slot game?

An exclusive slot game is a title made for one operator and available only in that operator’s lobby. The operator gets content its competitors cannot list, and its players get a game they will not find anywhere else. A real exclusive is a new game rather than a reskin: the maths, the art and the story are shaped around one audience.

A valuable exclusive is a new game, not a reskin. The maths, the art and the story should be shaped around the operator’s players.

Why are operators asking for exclusive games?

Because most lobbies now carry the same titles. New games launch everywhere at once, so a player moving between brands has little reason to stay with one. An exclusive is one of the few things a competitor cannot simply copy. For an operator, it gives:

  • A game no rival casino can offer
  • Something of its own to build campaigns around
  • A reason to talk to its players that nobody else has
  • A game tuned to its own audience instead of the average player in every lobby
  • Content that becomes part of how players recognise the brand

Is an exclusive the same as a branded reskin?

No. A reskin puts an operator’s logo on a game that already exists. An exclusive changes how the game pays, how it plays and how it feels. The operator’s brand should be felt in the details rather than stamped across the reels, and the game still has to stand on its own.

Does an exclusive have to be built from scratch?

No. A good exclusive often starts from a mechanic players already understand. What makes it bespoke is everything built on top. The operator’s brief shapes the maths, the features and the feel, so two games can share a starting point and end up nothing alike. A mechanic on its own does not make a game theirs. How every part of it is tuned for their players does.

What is Book of Maniac 500?

Book of Maniac 500 is our first dedicated exclusive, built with 500 Casino and launching on 6 October 2026. It is a horror game timed for Halloween and made for 500 Casino’s players, not adapted from a title already on the market.

  • Built on the foundations of our Book series
  • Rebuilt around a max win more than three times higher than any other game in that series
  • Free Spins multipliers that build on each other
  • Its own identity, from the artwork to the soundtrack
  • Playable only at 500 Casino

What has the first exclusive taught Just Slots?

That operators care about the maths as much as the artwork. It is easy to assume an exclusive is mostly a theme and a logo. In practice the conversations that matter are about how the game plays for players. The other lesson is timing: the earlier an operator is involved, the more of the game can be built around its audience instead of adjusted at the end.

Maths is always as important as the artwork.

Are exclusives part of the Just Slots roadmap?

Yes. Exclusives are becoming an important part of our roadmap rather than something we do once or twice a year. They work because they serve both sides. A network game has to appeal to every player in every lobby, so it is built for the average. An exclusive does not. Book of Maniac 500 is the first to launch, and a second bespoke title, co-designed with a tier-one crypto casino, is already in production.

Where are exclusive slot games heading?

The word exclusive will stop being enough on its own. More casinos will have games of their own, so what counts is whether their players can tell the difference. Some games will be built around what players are talking about right now. Others will be shaped for a particular market, where tastes vary more than a single global release allows for.
